Clam Digger

A gentleman digs for clams along the causeway the other day. I was on my way to a restaurant near the beach with my wife and a friend when I quickly pulled over to get this shot. The people in my car must think I'm crazy. I think I am a little crazy when it comes to pictures. At least I wasn't on a mountain road, now that would be CRAZY.

Sarasota Bay Fishing Pier

Last night I headed down to the fishing pier in Sarasota to catch the colors and take a few photos. As usual there were a lot of people fishing and as usual there was a lot of nice things to see. I shared a photo with some friends from my iPhone however one was in Japan, and so the same sun that was setting for me it was just rising for him. Small world, isn't it.

Under the Bridge

There are usually one or two people fishing from this spot. The walkway under the bridge is just long enough to give the sense of a tunnel and in the summer it's a nice spot to pause in the shade. Just a few feet beyond is a new ice cream shop that serves doggy ice cream (not really sure what that is) so I will just have to stop with my buds and check it out.

Night Scene from the Pier

A scene of the sidewalk from the pier. Normally I shoot in the other direction, but turning around can be cool also. I sit here several times a week, it's the midway point of my walk. It's a quiet spot on the water and a place to chill for a few minutes before I head back.

Angels in the Morning at Sunrise

I don't know where I heard it, but when you see these wispy clouds there are angels in the sky. Such was the case this morning and lucky for me I had my camera handy. It seemed that all the angels and all the boats pointed in the direction of the sun on this morning not too long ago.

Morning Reflection

I came here early one morning a few weeks ago to find the water like a sheet of glass. It was just before sunrise and everything was quiet and still. After I took this shot I walked onto the dock and at that very same moment the sun rose. Instantly a light breeze picked up such that the water was disturbed. These moments are fleeting and I'm glad to have witnessed the morning transition when I did.

Downtown Tampa

When anyone asks where I live, I say Tampa. But in fact I live an hour south. Nevertheless it's the closest big city and most people recognize the name. However, I've spent very little time in Tampa since moving here about ten years ago. So I've started driving up and walking around to take a few photos. This image is a section of downtown from a recent trip. There is a lot more to see and once I figure my way around I'll take a few more. So now you know where I'm from, even if I'm not.

Ca’ d’ Zan

This was the house of John and Mable Ringling in Sarasota Florida. You'll remember the Ringlings from the Ringling Brothers Circus. It's now a state park along with gardens and museums. A great place to spend the day if you're ever in the area.

I was out one night before winter hit. This is the fence around the old state house in downtown Hartford. The “new” statehouse is still pretty old and about five times as big and, has no fence. Don’t ask me why, I just report it.

Driftwood House in Ucluelet, BC

This driftwood house is along the Wild Pacific Trail in Ucluelet. The West coast of Vancouver Island looks a lot like this, rugged coves, black rock and driftwood. I'm not sure who constructed this but it was no small undertaking. Maybe not a posh resort, but if you consider the mountains, ocean and stars at night it comes pretty close. In my estimation the only thing it needs is a campfire and some marshmallows.
