Fulton Station

Fulton Station is in downtown New York. There are several entrances and this seems newer than the rest. We were suppose to meet some people near here and while we walked inside to get a few shots of the architecture. Just one of a million locations to shoot in Manhattan.

Romantic Sunset at Battery Park

Last Friday, Battery Park in lower Manhattan was the place to be as the week ended with a warm breeze and spectacular sunset. I was busy clicking away when this couple came up and me asked to take their picture and email it later. When I got home I realized that I had them out of focus. Arrrrg!!! Lucky enough I had taken this shot with them in it a few minutes earlier. It was an amateur mistake, but hopefully they can take this image as a memory of that moment together during one of the most romantic sunsets of the season.

Getting stuck on a drawbridge is not necessarily a bad thing. I was headed to the beach to watch the sunset and got “stuck” here while the bridge lifted to let a sailboat pass. The first thing you do is kill the engine, roll down the windows and enjoy the scenery. Or, in my case, grab my camera and take a few photos. In fact, truth be told, I secretly hope I get stuck on a drawbridge. Just one of life’s happy little surprises.

Last Stop Brooklyn

This weekend I was in New York City for a photowalk with some colleagues at the Arcanum. It was a busy weekend with many stops at iconic locations in lower Manhattan, midtown and Brooklyn. On Saturday we estimated walking between fifteen to twenty miles. This was the last stop of the evening after crossing the Brooklyn Bridge in the afternoon. It was a fitting end to a day that began before sunrise at the opposite end of this same bridge.

Dog’s Eye View

Last weekend I came to the local farmers market with my dogs. It gets pretty hot in the day so I sat down on the sidewalk under a tree across from some local musicians. Sitting there I thought, why not shoot the scene from Wiggle's point of view. So this is the result of that. We sat there for a few minutes listening to the music and enjoying the atmosphere. Then moved on to check out more cool stuff.

New Zealand Alps

About a year ago I was in a helicopter over the alps of southern New Zealand. It's been awhile since I posted a photo from there and so it's time to reminisce the adventure. The alps are nothing short of amazing as you can see. And somewhere up there are surely a few wizards or elfs; such as it is in middle earth.

Just Before Sunset

Usually, due to procrastination, I arrive at the beach only a few minutes before sunset. This time is was thirty minutes. For me that's good. Anyway, a couple of years ago I shot this same scene. My style changes over time and so revisiting the same location provides an opportunity to see it with new eyes. I'll probably come here again in another year or two and do the same thing all over again. And who knows what it'll look like then.

Up For Air

A few days ago we went to Crystal River to meet friends and swim with the Manatees. There are warm springs in the area so during winter months the Manatees congregate while they wait for the ocean to warm up. Well, it's Spring and most of them are gone, back to the gulf to get some real food. However, there are still a few that linger along the river so it's still possible to see and swim nearby. Regardless, for me just spending a day on a boat is going to turn out good.
