St Pete Pier and Clouds

The St. Petersburg pier is about to be rebuilt but until then it sits here unused. The architecture of the new pier has been the subject of a lot of discussion amongst the residents and local officials. So while they decide what to do I try and get a few more pictures before the cranes come in and it begins a makeover. Then, I suppose, I'll be out taking pictures of the new one. Me and everyone else in town.

Brooklyn Dreamscape

A couple of weeks ago I was here with my fellow cohorts of the Arcanum. This was the end of a long day and I think sleep was not far from my mind. For me sleep is like this, things look normal, and then they start to slip, become glassy, and then before you know it you're gone. So that's why I call this a dreamscape, it feels that if I look at this too long I might just nod off over my keyboard. Good night all.

Slice of Beauty

I'm constantly on the lookout for landscape, scenes, visual beauty; I suppose its part of the rewiring of my brain as a photographer, an artist. In truth there's beauty all around, it’s just that maybe we miss it, don’t know how to see it, aren't practiced. I resemble that. But it’s there if you know where to look. For instance, I love this sky, these clouds, the way the tree reaches up from the bottom. I don’t even know if this is a good photo, but I see something I like here. This could be anywhere really. But here’s a little secret. Below these trees are telephone poles, a parking lot, and a busy freeway. Only I decided to look up and see a little slice of beauty, and then click the shutter button.

California Wildflowers

I noticed these while walking along a path to the ocean in California. I was on a stopover from New Zealand so I still had that magic streaming through my veins. If you look closely you can just see the fairies trying not to be noticed. I think I caught them off guard.

Lake Placid, Florida

eekend we took a drive to the east coast of Florida to see what we could see. A little more than halfway we stopped at Lake Placid for lunch. Picked up lunch at a friendly little diner and then found the public boat dock for a picnic by the water. Later I learned that Lake Placid has a clown college, ...okay? So if you're afraid of clowns you might steer clear, ...I'm just sayin. Other than that this sleepy town seems like a nice enough spot and a good place to put your feet in the water to cool off from the Florida midday heat. And besides, the only clowns I saw were these waterfowl playing in and amongst the reeds.

English Bay Impression

My impression of sunset at Vancouver’s English Bay. Sometimes it seems the further I get from literal, the better things are. I’m drawn to abstraction in photography because it’s an escape into a world of my own imagination. Like radio, I use my imagination to fill in the gaps. In my experience, the world becomes a little more interesting when I use my imagination a little bit each day.
