City Time

A million other versions of this exact same shot have been made. So when here recently I was glad to try my own. This futuristic setting is from Brooklyn near the ferry terminal, these are ancient pilings from some long forgotten pier or dock. A six second exposure makes the water look smooth as though maybe time has slowed down. A parallel universe in a city that never sleeps.

Enders Falls

One of the many waterfalls at Enders State Forest in West Granby Connecticut. On a hot day these pools are full of people cooling off in the brisk water. I came here early enough in the spring that it wasn't crowded. I lowered my camera to capture the flow of the water not only off the fall but the swirls in the pool.

Half Moon Bay

Sunset over Half Moon Bay in California. Somehow this photo got buried in my backlog and I just recently found it again. It's a little surprise and reminder of a day about a year ago.

Battery Park Afternoon

A Friday afternoon scene near Battery Park in lower Manhattan. I was in NYC to take photos and only a few minutes before was over at the South Side Sea Port. My friend mentioned that the sun was going down and so we quickly made haste to this side of the island facing west. As it was the end of the week, most people were out relaxing and sitting at outdoor cafes. This, and a dozen other reasons, is why New York is one of my favorite cities.

Enders Pond

A little north of Hartford is Enders State Forest. If you drive too fast you'll miss the parking lot at the side of the road, I had to break quickly. Down a little trail is a series of cascading waterfalls and moss covered rocks. One amazing waterfall after another, a magical place. This garden of Eden is right in the middle of New England. If you like waterfalls, then put this on your list, just be sure not to drive too fast.

Seaplane in Vancouver Harbour

I took this early on a Sunday morning before these seaplanes loaded up with passengers for remote places in inside British Columbia. These are a familiar sight in downtown Vancouver and fun to watch land and takeoff. I have stood here watching the pilots carefully inspect and maintain these aircraft before loading up and heading off into the wild blue yonder.

Brooklyn Dreamscape

A couple of weeks ago I was here with my fellow cohorts of the Arcanum. This was the end of a long day and I think sleep was not far from my mind. For me sleep is like this, things look normal, and then they start to slip, become glassy, and then before you know it you're gone. So that's why I call this a dreamscape, it feels that if I look at this too long I might just nod off over my keyboard. Good night all.

View from Bell Rock

This is the view from Bell Rock in Sedona. I was here over the New Years and the weather was spectacular, cool in the evenings and warm in the day. Now I suspect with summer approaching its much much warmer. These rock formations are so unique that it's all you can do to pull over and stare for a half hour. It's not something that's too common here on Earth, Mars perhaps, but not here. I lingered here so long that when the sun fell below the rocks it got dark very quickly and so I ended up using the light on my iPhone to make my way back to the parking lot. Note to self, bring a flashlight next time.

Grove by the Road

A roadside grove in central Florida. As we drove by we noticed how the sun illuminated the tops of these grasses from behind. They looked ethereal swaying in the wind as I crouched low to include the tall poplar trees in the frame. The is a common sight for central Florida, nonetheless we just happen to see is at the right moment and decided to stop long enough to preserve it in a photo.

Romantic Sunset at Battery Park

Last Friday, Battery Park in lower Manhattan was the place to be as the week ended with a warm breeze and spectacular sunset. I was busy clicking away when this couple came up and me asked to take their picture and email it later. When I got home I realized that I had them out of focus. Arrrrg!!! Lucky enough I had taken this shot with them in it a few minutes earlier. It was an amateur mistake, but hopefully they can take this image as a memory of that moment together during one of the most romantic sunsets of the season.
