Driftwood on the Shore

Drive up the coast of British Columbia and driftwood is everywhere. It accumulates on the shore when storms toss it like little sticks. I admit I'm a little intimidated by that kind of power in nature. Imagine living along these shores a hundred years ago without modern convenience. In any case, on this present day afternoon some campers sat nearby taking in the tranquility of the this scene. A little snapshot of the rugged beauty I found just north of Vancouver.

Urban Sunset

Because I live in Florida there's water everywhere. Inlets, bays, waterways, rivers, ...the list goes on. So this is an urban sunset, meaning that I just happen to be driving by the water and pulled over to take a picture. Every day the sun sets on urban areas, but somehow the fact that there's a body of water makes it just a little bit special. Don't you think so?

Marley Under the Desk

This is Marley sitting under my desk waiting for me to play with him. He always sits within a few feet and patently waits for me to look his way an signal that it's time for a little play. I think I am a very lucky guy.

Bok Tower

The Tower and Gardens were constructed almost a hundred years ago on what was then a barren hill of sand and dirt. Now it's a historic national landmark and a favorite of wedding planners. In fact there was a wedding about to begin as I took this shot. This is a beautiful spot and now that I know where it is I'll plan on coming here every now and then to see it in the different seasons. Not that we have a lot of seasons in Florida.

Coquina Beach Walkway

A portion of the walkway at Coquina Beach. This row of change stations and containers caught my eye the other day. On the weekend everyone comes here because it is simply one of the most beautiful beaches. And since this is Florida, it pretty much stays that way all year round.

Shops at Columbus Circle

Last time I was in New York I hung out here after walking my feet off all over the city. It's an upscale mall in the Time Warner Center that has some nice spots to grab a pastry and chill with a coffee. Also, being so close to Lincoln Center there is a venue here for Jazz should you be so inclined. I was content to just sit and people watch. One thing about New York, this is the perfect place to people watch.

Little Manatee River

About a half hour drive from me is this state park where you can walk the trails or launch a canoe and explore the Little Manatee River. I managed to get here on a work day and so I pretty much had the place to myself even though all the campsites were full. I think people must have been out canoeing because I didn't see anyone on the trails. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Earlier today I read that this beach was rated number five in the “Top Ten Island Beaches for Perfect Sand” by Conde Nast Traveler. I thought to myself, hey, that’s MY beach. Fortunately we had nice clouds so I headed down this evening for a shoot. I’ve taken a lot of pictures of this beach, it’s by far my favorite. No matter how many times I come here the results are always the same, I go home relaxed and feeling much better.

Stanley Park Path

This is a path through Stanley Park in Vancouver. This is one of world's great urban parks, easily on par with Central Park, some would say it exceeds. The air is cleansed by the abundance of trees and walking on this path you could easily forget you are in a major city. If I was king of the world my first decree would be that every city must have a big beautiful park like this. But in the meantime, Vancouver will do.
