A little north of Hartford is Enders State Forest. If you drive too fast you’ll miss the parking lot at the side of the road, I had to break quickly. Down a little trail is a series of cascading waterfalls and moss covered rocks. One amazing waterfall after another, a magical place. This garden of Eden is right in the middle of New England. If you like waterfalls, then put this on your list, just be sure not to drive too fast.
Seaplane in Vancouver Harbour
I took this early on a Sunday morning before these seaplanes loaded up with passengers for remote places in inside British Columbia. These are a familiar sight in downtown Vancouver and fun to watch land and takeoff. I have stood here watching the pilots carefully inspect and maintain these aircraft before loading up and heading off into the wild blue yonder.
Pier Before Dawn
The Bridge Street Pier in Bradenton Beach Florida. The bridge is adjacent to the pier and so at this early hour a few early commuters are crossing the bridge on the way to work. I took this about a month back just as the pier re-opened from an extensive renovation. A great place to hang out if you’re ever in the area. And if you do come in the morning there is a restaurant here that opens early so you can sit with your cup of coffee and enjoy the scenery.
After the Rain
The best time to get out and take photos of nature is right after it rains. There are pools and ponds to create reflections and of course everything feels refreshed. I’ve posted other shots from this exact spot but lucky for me the clouds are always different. Clyde Butcher, perhaps Florida’s most well known photographer, said that the clouds are our mountains. It’s true, the clouds here are spectacular and ever changing throughout the seasons. The main thing is to get outside after the rain and you will not be disappointed.
South Street Seaport
If you work on lower Manhattan and live in Brooklyn, chances are you come here to catch a ferry. Such was the case on this Friday afternoon . The waters of these rivers move fast and these boats have a lot of power. It’s amazing to see how they maneuver in and around the traffic from one side to the other. I stood here mesmerized by the scene for a few minutes before grabbing a cab for Battery Park to catch the sunset.
Into the Light
I believe we are so much more than we think. That we are intrinsically light and that while here in this life we have an affinity with things that remind us of that. We stare at the fire, watch the sun go down and marvel at the colors of the clouds. It’s more than just that, I believe that the light is love and so we are drawn to reminders of love also. I see love in eyes. Eyes of people, but undeniably eyes of animals. My best friend passed today, my four legged sidekick named Marley. He gave me and so many more unconditional love. And today he returns into the light.
Brooklyn Dreamscape
A couple of weeks ago I was here with my fellow cohorts of the Arcanum. This was the end of a long day and I think sleep was not far from my mind. For me sleep is like this, things look normal, and then they start to slip, become glassy, and then before you know it you’re gone. So that’s why I call this a dreamscape, it feels that if I look at this too long I might just nod off over my keyboard. Good night all.
Last Rays of the Sun
The last rays of the day before dusk at Fort DeSoto park in St Petersburg Florida. Everything was idyllic on this evening and I thought this is a moment I want to remember. Of course I was busy taking pictures, but I have this souvenir. For me, just being there to take the picture was enjoyment enough.
Pier Before the Fall
This is one in a series of broken down piers in Bradenton Beach. Actually, there are big barriers in front to keep people off, but I’m sure that doesn’t apply to fishermen or photographers, right? In any case, this is one of the last shots you’ll see because they are deconstructing and removing them all. I think that’s kind of sad because I feel they add character, but that’s just me. I’m sure the beach will look even more pristine once they’re gone. In general, I’m all for piers, they give us all a chance to go out over the water with very little effort. And of course I like taking pictures of them at sunset. I guess I’ll just have to focus on something else.
View from Bell Rock
This is the view from Bell Rock in Sedona. I was here over the New Years and the weather was spectacular, cool in the evenings and warm in the day. Now I suspect with summer approaching its much much warmer. These rock formations are so unique that it’s all you can do to pull over and stare for a half hour. It’s not something that’s too common here on Earth, Mars perhaps, but not here. I lingered here so long that when the sun fell below the rocks it got dark very quickly and so I ended up using the light on my iPhone to make my way back to the parking lot. Note to self, bring a flashlight next time.
