East Granby Pond

Noticed this pond on the side of the road on my way to the Hartford airport the other day. The thing I like about New England is that things are, well, ...quaint. I don't mean that in a condescending way, quite the contrary. Hills and valleys and winding roads, everything just kind of blends in with the countryside. It's a subtle kind of beauty that contrast from my home state of Florida, we're kind of in-your-face beaches and open space, Connecticut has a different kind of passive beauty, revealing itself behind each turn of the road.

Time for a Break

Riverwalk in Bradenton Florida. It's the end of the week and I'm clean out of brain cells. As I lean against an allegorical lamp post and take a little break I think it's time to slow down, change gears and regroup before another crazy week. I hope you are getting a little break as well; we all work so hard. Nice to just chill once in a while. Dontcha think?

Sun on the Path

This path leads to beach near Tofino, BC and just like the beaches at home in Florida, a stream of people arrive here for sunset each evening. The earth turns, the sun goes down, round and round we go. Play it again Sam. The things that happen with the light at that golden hour drive me a little bit crazy, and if I don’t have a camera, possibly a little more than a little bit. Addiction? Obsession? Perhaps. I suppose there’s no harm as long as nobody gets hurt. And nobody will get hurt, …as long as I have my camera.

Different Priorities

I'm up north, away from home, and the only white sand is for snow cones. I pulled this shot out of the archives to remind me that, ...well, I forgot already. Lets just say that back home in Florida the priorities are a little different and that's exactly why all these people up here in Connecticut are so productive, there's really nothing else to do. I'm not advocating one way or the other, just a simple reminder that if you were in Florida you would be sitting on a beach chair doing absolutely nothing. Aren't you glad you're not? BTW: This is model Alecia Lou Dorics on a shoot I did on Anna Maria Island a couple months ago for a local tourism magazine.

Heublein Tower

The sign said trail to tower. It was cold, snow on the ground and I just arrived from Florida a couple hours earlier. But all the native New Englanders were out in their shorts and running shoes so I couldn't turn back, wouldn't look good for Florida. I figured once I got to the top of the mountain there would be a cell tower and I could pull out my iPhone and check the temperature, as though I needed a reminder. Little did I know that a mile and a half up the trail was a Bavarian fortress with spectacular views of the valley and city of Hartford below. Chalk one up for dumb luck.

Bridge Street Sunrise

When I forgo a little sleep I get lucky, ...sometimes. On this morning it was so. Showing up is half the battle. Fleeting seconds of the sun starting it's ascent opposite the clock tower at the end of Bridge Street in the little town of Bradenton Beach. And now to catch up on a little sleep.

Path to the Sea

A while back we stopped this along the coast in Half Moon Bay, California. This is a path between two pastures that leads to spectacular views of the Pacific ocean. The wildflowers were everywhere and when I squinted my eyes I could almost imagine I was in an impressionist painting of some sort.
